OCTOFELT

Hardware

Pick the setup for your table.

Every Octofelt reads the cards, seats your players and hears the action. Mat Go does it on batteries, in tiles you can carry anywhere. The Lamp adds a camera for the chips and video of every hand. The Table always comes with the Lamp and is built with established furniture makers. All are in development; specifications may change.

Octofelt Mat · In development

The table you have, upgraded.

Sized for a regular eight-person dining table. Every seat has its own card reader and microphone under a tournament-style playing surface, and the board has its own reader in the center. Players call their action out loud and the Mat keeps up.

Take the game anywhere.

The Mat in pieces, on batteries. Each player gets a tile with a card reader and microphone, and the board gets two tiles of its own. Nothing to plug in and no cables between them: set a tile in front of each player, anywhere around any table, at home or at a friend's place. Everyone taps in and puts themselves in order in the app. When the night is over, the tiles stack up.

Light the table. Film every hand.

A floor lamp that stands beside the table and reaches over the middle. Its camera sees the chips and the action and films every hand; its light keeps the felt even. Plug it into the mat and they work as one.

Octofelt Table · With furniture makers

Furniture first. Lamp included.

We don't build the Table ourselves. It comes from established furniture makers: co-branded tables with well-known American makers of luxury furniture, and made-to-order pieces from Italian workshops. One flat solid-wood top with no padded rail or cup holders, so it looks right in a dining room. Octofelt puts the readers inside the top where nobody sees them, and the Lamp comes with it. We're in talks with makers now; the list hears first who we're working with.

Poker cards, made for the camera.

Every Octofelt reads cards with a tag inside. Ours are poker size and handle like a regular plastic deck. Large corner indexes and a framed center, the style TV poker tables use, let the Lamp's camera read them from above too.

Questions

Before you join.

What games does it record?

Texas hold'em, for up to eight players at the table. Real cards and real chips, the way you already play.

How does the Mat know the bets?

Players say their action out loud, the way many home games already do: check, call, raise 200, fold. The microphone at each seat picks it up.

Mat or Mat Go?

They record the same things. The Mat is one piece that stays plugged in. Mat Go is separate battery tiles you can carry to any table and set out for however many are playing.

Can I bring it to a friend's game?

With Mat Go, yes. Set the tiles out on whatever table is there. They upload over the Wi-Fi there, or your phone's hotspot.

Do I need the Lamp?

With the Mat it's optional. You still get every card, the action and the night's points. The Lamp adds the camera and video. The Table always includes it.

Do I need special cards?

Yes. Octofelt cards look and feel like regular cards, with a tag inside that the readers pick up.

Who makes the Table?

Established furniture makers, not us: co-branded tables with American makers of luxury furniture, and made-to-order pieces from Italian workshops. Octofelt supplies the readers and the Lamp. We're in talks now, and the list hears first who we're working with.

How much will it cost?

The Mat and Mat Go cost the least, the Table the most. The list hears about prices and dates first.
